‘Black Lightning’ 2×03 screener secrets: Welcome Principal Lowry, I hate you already

katielittlekinrit:

We get to see her continue her reign as Freeland’s
personal Robin Hood, this time with a new crusade that she’s working towards
(and a new partner). We likewise see more Grace (yay!), who Anissa goes
to see after Jenn tells her that she needs “less cotton candy, and more soul
food.”
Bless you and your real talk, Jenn.

@gracesgirl posted it. @shaloved30 posted
it. Now, I’ve posted it. A lot of you guys ignore BL press material then get
mad about things already addressed or upset about what you haven’t gotten to
see when it’s been confirmed you’ll see it or that it’ll happen. Stop ignoring
BL press material, please.

Does anyone else find Anissa really inconsiderate? Especially when it comes to romantic relationships.

So first you’re asking if we find her inconsiderate in life, in general? ABSOLUTELY not. I’d strongly disagree there.

We’ve seen her in ONE romantic relationship and yeah hmm I don’t know what to make of her flaw when it comes to romance. I do know this idea she just ghosted Grace then came to her job to hang out with another woman needs more looking into, that would be extremely inconsiderate or worse if it actually happened but again, I SERIOUSLY doubt she knew Grace was working there.

That wasn’t even her party, it was Zoe’s and Grace was working at the event as wait staff.

OP and folks like them doing everything to justify shit talking Anissa cause they refuse to accept this ship was always slow burn, smh

@shaloved30 @eronthebender Hi can i just say that ‘OP’ did not make that post specifically because of Grace or because I ship thudergrace because I do not. I was basing my comment off of 2 Anissa interactions that ive seen because admittedly im not an avid watcher of the show.

The first was when Chenoa mentions meeting her parents and very sheepishly says shes not trying to take away from Anissa’s activism with the community and Anissa gets short with her and says “Thats what it sounds like” and kind of dismissed her.

The other was the recent episode where she looked utterly confused that Grace was annoyed with Anissa despite her not calling her for however long and then seeing her flirting with some other girl.

That was all, nobody’s ‘justifying shit talking’

Mod Nik

OP was used here by me before I realized it was this blog who made the post, plus being mobile. (Let’s address that first).

First her being dismissive and defensive in a repeated conversation she’s obviously tired of having (we were given context that that wasn’t a first time talk and she and Chenoa already had issues) is a valid feeling and I’m not sure what is inconsiderate about her expressing those feelings? We met them just briefly, in a long standing relationship that again we knew had issues from Anissa’s pull away to share her powers news along with things also said by family.

As far as Grace, her being confused about Grace’s sudden coldness isn’t that far off for her since one, they weren’t in a relationship of any kind beyond early stages of friendship and one voicemail. Especially since she acknowledged her not calling right away and apologized. And two, her kissing Zoe, who invited her there, with no idea that Grace was watching or working at that party is not on Anissa or her fault in any way.

From the screener post

Anissa goes to see after Jenn tells her that she needs “less cotton candy, and more soul food.”

From Nafessa’s CB.com interview

“I think she is more interested in just someone real, who is going to
fulfill her and not like just like, some fluff of a relationship you
know, something real. Soul food if you will.“

Context happening on the sly, thanks

Black Lightning 2×03 “Master Lowry” introduces three new characters, checks in with current ones and throws a few surprises our way.

Here are five more teasers to get you excited for the newest Black Lightning episode!

1. Introducing Perenna: Superhero therapist for hire

We meet three new characters in this episode (one of whom I’ll talk about in my next teaser), but Perenna is by far my favorite. First of all, she’s a badass, superpowered Black woman and I’m always down to see that on my screen. Secondly, she’s brought on to help Jenn both control her powers and make sense of her inner emotional turmoil, two things that I’m so incredibly happy to see the show address.

2. Principal Lowry: Yeah, no thanks

Unfortunately, not all the new characters are as awesome as Perenna or intriguing as Dr. Jace, a imprisoned doctor turned assistant to Lynn that we likewise meet in this episode.

That’s because one of the new characters we meet in this episode is Mike Lowry, Jefferson’s replacement as principal at Garfield High. And while I was initially going to try and give this dude some leeway — he is stepping into some huge shoes to fill — he basically proved that he was The Worst about .2 seconds into the episode. We don’t see a lot of him (thank God), but what we do see? Not good at all.

3. Tobias Whale’s to-do list

Were you just as confused as I was as to what Tobias was doing all last episode, or was that just me?

If you answered no, then your predictions will likely be confirmed in this episode. If you answered yes, then your confusion will be cleared up throughout the course of this episode.

4. Keeping up with Anissa

No appearance of Thunder in this episode, but since Anissa has ten different things going on at any given time, that still leaves her with plenty of storyline to go on.

We get to see her continue her reign as Freeland’s personal Robin Hood, this time with a new crusade that she’s working towards (and a new partner). We likewise see more Grace (yay!), who Anissa goes to see after Jenn tells her that she needs “less cotton candy, and more soul food.” Bless you and your real talk, Jenn.

5. Tying up loose threads from the premiere

Ok, so maybe tying up loose ends is a little overambitious of a statement, but I will say it at least addresses them and answers a lot of lingering questions I had at the end of the first two episodes — about Painkiller, Fowdy and Henderson, among others.

Actually, in many ways, this episode feels more like a continuation of the season premiere, like it was meant to follow that one in order since many of the episode beats are similar and the storylines all match up to ones that were presented in the “Rise of the Green Light Babies.”

So, @dr-arizonatorres informed me that Andy Allo, who plays Zoe B, Anissa’s current boo thang on Black Lightning, was Prince’s guitarist and now I’m appropriately obsessed with her. I, of course, ship Thundergrace and am not sad Zoe and Anissa won’t be long-term but now I’m hoping Zoe still sticks around because Andy is actually pretty amazing.

And I don’t go there but I’m really surprised no one has noticed or mentioned she was in Pitch Perfect 3 and I guess maybe in the movie was in a band with Ruby Rose’s character???
