It’s the Mary Poppins bag of “TOTALLY LEGITIMATE REASONS TO HATE THE SHOW!”
lol
And that was FINE by the audience.
Look, there was an episode of the show where the married couple go to a Hindu wedding, and somehow become possessed by Shakti and Shiva… just so they could have a funny sitcom argument, and resolution that got erased a few eps later.
yikes
Thank you!!
What’s going on?
He’s posted some reciepts. He’s private now though so if you don’t follow him already go to THR, they grabbing it
Amazing! i’ve been thinking a lot about story structure and the tropes within, how the structure guides writers unconsciously (candyumbrella has a great analysis) and how they’ll craft fascinating side characters who exist only as props, and how those structures usually fall within cultural biases. A black ‘Chosen One’ would honestly be a revolution in the genre. It’s what so many thought Sleepy Hollow was doing, but in the end it just followed the usual patterns.
It’s what they did do until they screwed the show and themselves. I’d love something like this for fantasy or scifi. It’s sort of what Superstition did as well but SYFY is crickets on it so I don’t think they’re gonna bring it back
I’d love a southern gothic show with a black female lead that has elements of family and fantasy (think eves bayou like). Her family and friends are all different parts of the community and her love interest is another black girl. Maybe a childhood friend or neighbor. Someone, she can share her abilities with while things around them start happening. Maybe there’s also a food element that comes in in some way. Maybe she’s a culinary student or that could be the family business. I don’t know. I’d watch it lol
