Happy Pride Month to people who can’t come out and celebrate who they are

That doesn’t mean you’re not proud. There are many reasons to keep your orientation or identify private. Personal safety chief among them. And if the society and culture surrounding you has succeeded in making you ashamed, I hope Pride undoes all the the damage they’ve done.

Remember that everyone you see loud and proudly celebrating was once in the closet or keeping their truth a secret from others and possibly even from themselves. For you, Pride Month should be about hope and the light at the end of the tunnel. You ARE part of this community, people knowing it doesn’t change that fact.
