lmao the fact that i’m making this Charley/Davis scene and this After 7 song comes up first on my Discover Weekly has me sick at the irony. The first lyrics. @youngerdrgrey you’d prob wanna know this

I just want a playlist of sad songs Davis skips on his Spotify. This is the exact sort of song he’d hear and sort of sit with for a minute before calling out for Alexa to play something upbeat.

Exactly this and those tags are the perfect scenario for it

I find it interesting that the only people who actually understand the complexities of a Black character of all ages who’s a woman/girl are always Black women. We are the only one that sees our own humanity even in characters that aren’t real.

Most the time with some exceptions. I have never seen more black women in my fandom life be so ugly as they are about Darla Sutton on Queen Sugar just because they refuse to say they hold bias because she’s a recovering addict and coddles Rah only because they thirst over Kofi…lol

Ahhh I have notice a trend that when the show is considered a “Black” show, I see more Black women being ugly towards the women on the show and its always seems to be in defense of Black men. Yet if the show is majority white or non-Black that’s when I see the rally to protect Black women on shows happen. I feel like there is something to unpack there on why there is such a switch in protection but I honestly don’t know. I have seen some hate towards Charlie as well before and I was just like..why? Lol

Oh yeah its a fact and yep Charley got (and gets it still but not as rampant) too. Nova has as of late got a shift of it as well but the writing has fed into that for her this year- outside of folks bringing factors like her sexuality into it when that shouldn’t be and is not the issue but yeah. Lots to unpack on that.

Same happened with Lynn on Black Lightning and again same set up with show and majority audience

Queen Sugar S3:E11 Your Passages Have Been Paid… Thoughts

watchmythrone13:

Truth is, I’m tired. This one was directed by Dr. Rachel Raimist and written by Channing Godfrey Peoples– she also wrote 3×06, ya know the one with Darla and RA’s big argument + Charley and Micah’s united front (burn Davis burn).  [S3:E10]

Each of you, descendant of some passed
On traveller, has been paid for […]
Here, root yourselves beside me.
I am that Tree planted by the River,
Which will not be moved.
I, the Rock, I the River, I the Tree
I am yours–your Passages have been paid

The Tree acknowledges that he, along with Rock and River are one with humans. The Rock, River, and Tree have paid the price for the journey humans have taken so far. Remember, they’ve been on earth since the beginning of time. From those who came as slaves, to Native Americans, to immigrants, there is no debt to pay. Like the Tree, they can be rooted again. Think of a family tree. The ones before us have done the hard work, gone through the worst of times so their descendants could live their interpretation of the American Dream. The Tree urges humans to seek solace in the fact that any debt has been settled and will be compensated. They have already paid the price.

what I’m not here for is people rooting for Charley and Davis after a hug she needed for a second then pulled away from. she pulled away for a reason. stop it. ain’t no do-overs, b.

and while I’m here, stop with the Jacob mess too. besides what should be obvious reasons why that’s disgusting, why would we want her to be a part of yet another family who can’t be trusted and makes her feel like shit?
