I saw this post and it is so true for real life but I realize too that this is also why Romero saying to Charley “I love your joy” resonated so deeply with me. Charley has been through a lot. So much with Davis just a year fresh with all his betrayal, the scandal with Melina mixed with losing her dad, her divorce, Micah’s false arrest and trauma, only to be reopened all over again by Davis with the news of Tia. And, all this after a painful breakup with Remy by him not believing in her- all before he betrays her by sneaking behind her back with her sister. it’s such a brief statement but it’s one that stops her short and shocks her to hear and it’s not lost on any of us just how rare her joy has been to even see.

Remy referenced it too in S1 but notice the difference “Don’t let anyone steal your joy.” At that moment he was speaking once again of Nova and also Rah because she was upset. We see over the season to follow through he brought her some moments of joy, she didn’t have many and when it was time for Remy to show up for her he ultimately chose not to.

This referenced post is why I love and hope this slow building of a relationship continues with Romero and Charley. She doesn’t need flash and finesse and she doesn’t need lines and extra swagger. She’s had that and both times they failed her by not giving her the respect or belief she needed and desired. Charley wants someone to show up. Someone to care and support her. She needs a friend and someone that wants nothing from her but to be herself. To just relax and be able to breathe without worry about a thing ( family, foes, scandal and press, farmers, and crooks like the Landry’s and Boudreaux’s) while she heals from all the past year has dealt her. Through talks and laughs, silly dances, home-cooked meals, and sweet kisses. Tenderness.

She deserves this.

Queen Sugar S3:E9 The Tree and Stone Were One

watchmythrone13:

Then gon’ ask me how I’m doin’? I’M UPSET. This ep was directed by Nijla Mumin and co-written by Anthony Sparks + Kat Candler. 3×08 recap.

I will sing the songs
The Creator gave to me when I and the
Tree and the stone were one
.

Before cynicism was a bloody sear across your
Brow and when you yet knew you still
Knew nothing.

The river wants the good old days back. She misses the time on earth when man was at peace with himself and the world. Before we knew of nothing. (*Plato said that “true wisdom is knowing we know nothing.”) Before humans started walking the earth with literally no shame that their actions were motivated purely by their own selfish desires. The river just wants unity, and we could experience this harmony she speaks of if we could only choose peace and stop studying war.

I agree with most all of this but the stuff about Jacob. For me- He can keep his grimy self and lips as far away from Charley at all times from here on out. No need for any repeats of that scene either.

As far as Darla goes, the only thing I will say is this. Before she came back, every time she called she tried to talk to Rah and he wouldn’t hear it and passed the phone to Blue. She has suggested alternatives to the situation and said 50/50 to which he bucked and tried to shame her accomplishments outta envy and fear. He’s pushed her to this paperwork and I hope they can find some way to work this all out.

A thought. Could Nova (and Remy, but especially Nova) be trying to reconcile her relationship with Ernest with this attempt at *romance* with Remy? As much as I loathe the scenes, I keep thinking about the fact that for as much as he claimed to see her all they ever talk about is Ernest and nostalgia and as random as this all is it falls right with her looking for that connection solely for her book because of her writer’s block.

I realize now that my issue with Remy in 2×07 (which rolls into his first few statements in 2×08′s end but later on that)… when he questions Charley on being calculating v thoughtful not only was it the audacity of having him say this but also the timing of it because of all that went down the day prior. We saw him ask Darla if she was okay when he noticed her drying her face when she brought the contract down and she blew it off mostly, but we never knew for certain if he found out what all went on at Vi’s and at the farm and the new revelations told to everyone. The emotional turmoil they all and Charley went through.

Either way is not a good look mind you, but I realize those of us in the audience who got so pissed with him did so too because we got to see her go through all of that and he felt like the worst of timing pile on to her at the time.(for something so self centered at that)

Does he know?
