The fact that Black Lightning isn’t nearly as popular as the rest of the CW’s DC shows despite being 3x better is proof y’all don’t care about rep when it’s not white. Literally a bullet proof lesbian as a main lead but you don’t care bc she’s black and an activist. Here’s more truth: Black Lightning is too black for the CW audience. It’s not black in a fun way that’s accessible like black sitcoms that are like “See? We’re just like you!” and it’s not black in an Empire way that mostly explores stereotypes that white people are so easily entertained by.
Black Lightning is black in a real way that makes makes white people uncomfortable. Gang violence, police brutality, the government experimenting on people/putting drugs in poor black neighborhoods – this happened, this happens.
There’s no fun bubbly white best friend or nice white family anywhere to break up the blackness, or inject levity into the bleak reality of cities like Freeland and people just don’t wanna face it.
Yet, those same people will tell black people we’re exaggerating about racial issues, institutionalized racism, police brutality, neglect, and corruption or they’ll just feign ignorance.
At the end of the day it’s like every other superhero show on tv, it’s about superheroes trying to protect the city they live in. It’s better than the rest because it’s so much more grounded in reality.
And well, I think the white wlw fandom all over social media has proven several times over by now that they just don’t give a damn about queer black women as a whole.
I hate that every time there’s a budding relationship with a strong, independent woman and a “good” man it’s always her responsibility to not mess it up. The response is usually “ooh she better not hurt him” or “I swear if she ruins this” as if good guys don’t turn out to be full of shit all the time.
Eh see that’s where I disagree with most people I guess. The way I see it, she wasn’t coming at it with selfish intent. I think she genuinely just wants to be able to share any and everything with Adena so they can understand each other and she has expressed this on different occasions. If anything, that’s such a healthy mindset to adopt when your goal is to have a long term relationship so kudos to her because this is a different Kat than we got in S1. Open and honest communication is going to be paramount if they’re going to last.
Now, I would’ve preferred that Kat brought this desire up when Adena first proposed the rule, but she wasn’t even really on board with the OR upon first suggestion so I doubt the talking rule was of primary concern to her. Also let’s not forget that the next time we see Kat and Adena on screen, Kat is honoring this no talking thing by lying (in spite of the fact that she sucks ass at lying/hiding her feelings around Adena) about the fact that she was planning this hook up! It’s ADENA who’s all “yeah I know we’re not supposed to talk about it but…” and she honestly opened up the door for some wiggle room by doing that so I don’t fault Kat for being like “yeah I know we’re not supposed to talk about it but..” later on.
As far as the notion that Kat was ‘throwing’ this hook up in Adena’s face goes? Kat wasn’t up there badgering her and forcing Adena to talk, she simply stated why she wanted to talk and left it up to Adena to decide whether or not that would be okay. Even asks one more time if Adena is sure she’s okay with talking. So if Adena says it’s okay, I don’t see why we’re blaming Kat for believing her and discussing it?? Maybe I could understand where people were coming from if Kat just came in that hoe on some word vomit type shit and didn’t give Adena the chance to consent to the discussion. But that is the literal opposite of what happened. And it’s not like Kat was up there gushing about how this girl tasted and describing how hot she looked and comparing the girl to Adena or anything that would’ve been unnecessarily cruel. She simply states “hey so I was dominant..it was different!” That was the extent of the mention of the outside experience. They then proceeded to laugh and talk about their own sex life afterwards so I fail to see where Adena was some poor woman forced to suffer through some detailed soliloquy about Kat’s sex on the side due to Kat’s selfish desire to brag about tying up and eating some cooch.
That being said, I desperately want Kat to get some gay friends. Someone she can discuss hot girls and vagina taste with lmao. Because Adena ain’t the one 😭

At best, being a ‘tomboy’ is tolerated up to a certain age but is harshly punished and discouraged after that. y’all do realize if you keep reposting gifs without permission/credit/following the gifmakers rules, gifmakers will eventually get completely fed up with all of you and stop making content for you to enjoy.
gifmakers spend HOURS sometimes days, weeks, etc on gifsets. from creating ideas to downloading/finding videos to colouring the gif to sharpening, etc, it takes so much time and gifmakers do this completely on their own free time, for free. just so y’all can enjoy content of your favs. not to mention the time gifmakers often spend doing requests from other people just to be nice and make someone else happy!
so with this i remind everyone to stop? reposting gifs?? i don’t care if you “saw it on google/twt/etc”, if you did not make it, It Is Not Yours To Post. that is a very simple concept im sure all of you know full well of. and when you come across gifs that are clearly reposted, don’t reblog them? like if you see a gifset with multiple different colourings, a gifset with someone else’s url in the watermark, a bunch of gifs in a textpost with no referral link, etc. it can be pretty easy to tell when something’s been reposted also saying “credit to original giffer” means nothing.
