Something that I like, that is completely realistic, is they are showing us what happens when you meet the right one for you at the wrong time…

But are they going to get really real then and end the relationship with Adena meeting someone she connects with who is ready to be with her? The buzzword for all this seems to be realistic, but in real life those relationships end and people move on…Adena would be Kat’s “one that got away” unless Kat pulled it together really quickly. I like them as a couple, love them (was absolutely enthralled before this), but… after this, if not a clean break I think it’s reasonable to do an open relationship storyline where Kat sees Adena getting “too close” to one of her other partners and feels her slipping away, realizing her attraction to other women isn’t worth this and having to work to get Adena fully invested in committing to them again. Kat needs to be shown dealing with consequences for this, almost losing Adena because of her own actions again. Otherwise, it will feel completely imbalanced to me…like Adena’s just putting up with disappointment and hurt repeatedly while we call her mature for doing so.

I would like to see this resolved quickly as well and I do believe there will be something that will kick Kat in the ass to make her realize running around with other girls exploring isn’t anywhere near worth what she shares with Adena.

that last thing i reblogged reminded me of a conversation i had with some of my friends that pissed me off when we were listening to dirty computer. bc a lot of them were giving her these backhanded compliments like the fact that she’d never released an album like THIS is why they never got into her. “where did this come from??” “I never knew she could do all this” “she got creative on this” like janelle monae??? bitch she’s always been creative??? like wtf are y’all on?

frankly i’ve seen a few people On Here and twitter talk like that. Like if you weren’t a fan of jane before but you like dirty computer it’s highly likely that you just didn’t take the time to listen to her other shit because dirty computer isn’t SO different stylistically from the other stuff she’s done for anyone to act as if she wasn’t good or worth the listen until this album came out.  Ngl it is my FAVORITE thing she’s done, but i think that’s how art is supposed to be like always trying to compete with who you were before. And obviously better is a matter of opinion because art is interpreted differently for everyone. i just hate it when people try to come up with excuses for why they haven’t been a fan of a good artist or why they won’t go back to see what else they had going on (and good black female artist at that) when instead they could just be saying “wow i didn’t realize her music was like this let me go back and listen to her previous stuff"
