I read a tweet that said “I’m going to need everyone to realize that Remy fell for Charley’s potential. Remy is falling for who Nova is…..” OK AND???? Even if that’s true how does that lessen the pain for Charley? Regardless of what he fell for, SHE fell for who Remy is. Whether he truly liked/loved her or not SHE liked/loved him… and still does. SHE didn’t break up with him. I don’t gaf about how Remy and Nova feel. I don’t. At the end of the day they’re not the ones getting hurt in this situation and they’re not the ones being hurt week after week.

I really thought we were going to get some good dialogue with that Charley/Micah scene… maybe in future episodes. There’s a lot they need to unpack.

With those two it takes some time. They are so alike so they spoke without even saying a word from the moment he sat down and saw what was burning. The opening scene really showed up in that moment for me with them

ya it felt very… :/// like idk it kinda came out of nowhere like the whole idea of ‘im here for u i suppirt u i like that u work hard and think outside the box’ and he just straigjt up leavrs and then suddenly is flirting w nova w/o any guilt likee??? also idk i love charley she might be my favourite like… ifk it seems… :/

Yeah it’s such a random and drastic shift and it feels very much like unneeded dramatics

I also can’t help but continue to feel this all started to unravel a bit with Remy because of a S2 showrunner in Monica that had a disdain for Charley (which she exposed via liveblog on her own co written episode) and now here we are with a man who barely resembles his season one self at all- and yes character development can take a negative turn as well as good but this has him going against his own core values and it just seems off.

(Anyways, I am curious about what it would take to right the righteous Remy train and get him and Charley back together. Like, first, he’d definitely need to cut out whatever is happening with Nova. And???)

It’s really hard to say now.

I’m so confused why they’re even doing Remy/Nova. Nothing in the narrative, up until the last two episodes even hinted at Nova/Remy. Remy/Charley makes so much more sense character-wise.

SO many of us feel the same way. Nothing about this makes any damn sense.

like, they had that mini-hint with the hug that lasted too long in the season two finale. first inkling that it might be something they’re curious about exploring, but bringing Remy and Nova together still comes from pretty far out without really giving any of us something new.

it’s another guy who’ll inevitably want Nova to change, another opportunity for her to have a taste of something she wants in a partner but it’s not the right person. it’s another moment of inspiration before she leaves him, or he leaves her.

for Remy, it’s another woman who reminds him of some of the strength and spark he’d seen in his late wife. another possible relationship with someone who he cannot control, or convince, and another way to stay close to his late friend, Ernest.

but what else are we getting out of this? other than that frustration that they’re even exploring this?

That’s all were getting is frustration cause just like you said to someone else it feels like a maze to get out of all because they couldn’t come up with something better to utilize the two. My issue is they could have written (and still can cause I like my denial bubble sometimes lol) someone else for Nova and have Remy deal with his saltiness he still clearly holds. His feelings for Charley are unresolved and 3×01 and 3×02 showed that so now this re him just seems petty and from both spiteful from two so righteous

honestly, this pairing makes me question everything i thought i understood about both Nova and Remy, but not in a good “i’m learning so much more about them” way. It feels antithetical to their characterizations up to this point. There’s no way season 1 Nova would even consider this. Nova’s done a questionable thing or two (sleeping with a married white cop, stealing a HUGE some of money from her sister …even if it was to free a Black kid from false imprisonment), but this… it just feels like a line that is so far out of bounds. I don’t understand this decision at all.

Yeah. Several of us have chatted about this at length and always say these same things as well. It’s just so far ooc for both of them. Neither would be THIS cruel to Charley and expecting folks to forget that two seasons of Remy and Charley have been happening with the family and entire community to witness is laughable so it makes me wonder what is the point and how huge the fall out or reversal has to be

So I’m watching Queen Sugar S3. Ep .5, and I just realized something crucial.

Charley is not a child of an affair. Ernest and Tru had broken up and he moved to California because of it and that is where he met and later married Lorna. Then came Charley, then they divorced. He went back home and reunited with Tru and Nova (who was conceived prior to breakup) and later came Ralph Angel

Ooooohhhh okay. I stand corrected.

🤔🤔🤔

But I’m guessing the parallel I’m thinking of is how Charley’s presence is kind of reminder of the emotional distance between Ernest and Tru.

And now with Davis revealing that he has a secret daughter, it’s like the scenario is repeating. A child that is the literal representation of emotional distance.

Now that I’m thinking about it. Blue falls into this category too.🤔🤔🤔

In a way I suppose but Davis was a whole other level of bum with his distance with repeated infidelities and facilitating a rape. Ernest was never that, he got his heart broken and pushed away. And I mentioned the wrong episode in the tags. Lorna tells Nova and Charley the actual facts in 2×11. Vi reluctantly confirms.

I said I was done but…

Charley composing herself for a second to meet with Jacob was some boss level shit. She started not to, then thought about it, like damn I can let loose AND I can snoop. AND SHE DID.

“how much other hell raising you two doing?” “you don’t want to know” Charley said TRY ME bitch! The expression on her face after she said “try me” though!!!

****what the hell is Trent up to? and what is up with Jacob’s mysterious brother?
